I ATTENDED HIS FUNERAL, CLOSED CASKET, AND TALKED TO THE HONOR GUARD AND FAMILY. YOU SEE TOMS PROBLEM WAS THE HE WAS GUNG HO AT A TIME WHEN TROOPS WERE TOO FOND OF BUGGING OUT AND GETTING HIGH. ****TOM WAS FRAGGED*** THAT IS KILLED BY HIS OWN MEN THE GOVERNMENT JUST DOESNT HAVE THE BALLS TO TELL THE TRUTH. MY SERVICE TIME WAS WITH 51ST SPECIAL OPERATIONS AND I DONT THINK EITHER ONE OF US WOULD DO IT AGAIN. I was the 1-2 of RT Asp with Bill Queen 1-0 and Joe Haro 1-1. Our last infil was on 31 JAN 1972. We were pulled out on ladders under a hot exfil. When Queen left, Joe became 1-0 and I moved up to 1-1. Joe and I were the last 2 to leave the CCN (TF1AE)compound when we finally closed out. It broke my heart when we had to send our Rhade Montagnards (SCU) home. We were young then and would go on to other wars (El Salvador). Recon company was my family.
